Critics immediately recognised the advances inherent in the 928 over the 911 and it was universally praised as one of the greatest GT cars of all time. It handled brilliantly, it was quick, it looked fantastic, and it was comfortable. With the 928, Porsche created a serious long-distance grand-touring car that could also tackle twisting B roads with ease thanks to super direct steering, fifty-fifty weight distribution and a clever Weissach rear axle that kept the car firmly planted. Many road testers found that their nerve ran out long before the 928's grip. Porsche continuously developed the 928 throughout its production life, culminating with the launch of the S4 in 1987 which differed slightly from the earlier cars with its smoothed-off front and rear bumpers, larger rear spoiler, more interior equipment, and a 5.0 litre version of the V8 engine developing 316bhp. 1989 saw further development with the launch of the GT model, featuring a more powerful 5.0 litre engine creating 326bhp, but more importantly, the introduction of a five-speed manual gearbox for those who wanted a sportier driving experience.

Currently finished in a metallic grey with contrasting black leather trim and coral red piping, this genuine UK (C16) late example of the 928GT, the last hurrah of the S4, was not registered until March 1993 with the GTS taking sales from the GT at the Porsche showrooms as of the early 90's, despite the quite capable 330bhp 5.0 litre V8. Only around 180 GTs were made and this is one of the last. Importantly a dogleg manual example, this car was supplied in a rare Coral Red metallic (82H) in contrast to the popular Guards Red however was repainted in grey more recently.

First registered on a K-plate, this example likely sat in a dealer while the GTS was released and is one of two 1993 registered GT's in the UK, the other in Guards Red with 132,000 miles, sold in 2025 for £33,000. The low odometer is backed up by the healthy history file including the original stamped service booklet, all receipts back to 2000, countless MoT's including current until October 2026, original manual and brochure, the car also boasts an original toolkit, jack and space saver spare wheel and three keys. With just four former keepers, this car with its low mileage is a perfect candidate for some light cosmetic restoration and in our view returning to its original and rare colour at which point it could be legitimately be classified as a collector example.
