The iconic 911 can trace its history back more than sixty years; its family tree containing such memorable cars as the 911S, the 2.7 Carrera RS and the notorious Turbo. Since its introduction in 1963, the 911 has undergone continuous development, although the basic concept has remained little changed. Throughout its lifetime, the core design has been modified by private teams and by the factory itself for racing, rallying and other forms of competition, and consequently is among the most successful competition cars ever. Model year 1974 saw three significant changes. First, the engine size was increased to 2,687cc achieving higher torque. Second, new impact bumpers conformed with low-speed protection requirements of US regulations. Thirdly, the use of K-Jetronic CIS Bosch fuel injection in two of the three models in the line-up, the 911 and 911S models, retaining the narrow rear arches of the old 2.4, now had a 2.7 litre engine producing 150bhp and 173bhp respectively.

Delivered new to Washington in the USA in March 1974, this narrow body example was supplied in the rare colour of Peru Red and with options including 6x15 Fuchs alloy wheels, antiroll bar, oil pressure and oil level gauge, leather steering wheel, rear openable windows, stepless adjustable intermittent wiper control and leatherette blue/black seats. The car was imported to the UK in 2015 from the USA and resided in Essex where the car was maintained by Colewood Motorsport and later Carrera Engineering and Motorsport. Attracted by the colour and the fact the car is a matching numbers example, our vendor purchased it in 2023; he had owned many classic cars over the years, but never a 911. Under his stewardship the car has benefitted from a rebuilt ignition and regular servicing. Now having 'scratched the itch', our vendor has decided to move the car on to its next owner. Reported to run and drive very well, this lovely 911 is entirely original, bar the addition of an early 911 Turbo rear engine cover/spoiler. Supplied with a V5C registration document and history file that includes the car's specification, Certificate of Title from New Jersey, invoices, original handbook, spare wheel, toolkit and tyre pump. A rare opportunity to own a 911 in original condition, with matching numbers and in a very rare colour. Consigned by Will Penrose
