By the late 1970s, Porsche had begun formalizing the kind of one-off craftsmanship its most exacting clients had long demanded, establishing the Sonderwunsch, or “Special Wishes” program to accommodate bespoke finishes, technical upgrades, and highly individualized equipment. That philosophy matured through the 1980s into Porsche Exclusive, and among the most compelling creations of that era was the type 930 equipped with WLS-short for Werksleistungssteigerung, or Factory Performance Increase.

WLS transformed the already formidable 930-generation 911 Turbo into an even more exclusive and powerful machine, limited to Porsche's most valued clients. Factory upgrades included revised ignition and fuel-injection settings, an enlarged BorgWarner K27 turbocharger and wastegate, a larger front-mounted oil cooler, and a freer-flowing exhaust system. Together these improvements increase the output of the 930/66S 3.3-liter flat-six from 300 to 330 horsepower.

The example offered here is documented by a Porsche Classic Technisches Zertifikat issued in December 2024, which confirms its original build and delivery details, as well as its matching-numbers drivetrain-including the one-year-only Getrag G50 five-speed transaxle-corresponding with Porsche's records. Invoiced on 4 October 1988 and delivered through Porsche Zentrum Hamburg, it was specified in elegant Schiefer-Metallic (Slate Grey Metallic - Q9) over a striking Black and Silk Gray full-leather interior with contrasting Silk Gray piping, a rare and evidently special-order combination befitting such an exclusive factory power-upgraded Porsche.

In addition to its factory WLS performance-increase engine, this car was ordered with heated sport seats for both driver and passenger, each with electric height adjustment, a limited-slip differential, an electric sunroof, headlamp leveling, green-tinted windscreen with green sunband, Porsche's CD-10 radio, and an additional amplifier. Porsche Classic's inspection, performed on 19 November 2024, recorded 64,904 kilometers and found the body free of visible damage, the paint in age-appropriate condition, and the interior presenting well overall. Furthermore, a tag in the engine compartment notes that the oil was changed on 18 November 2024 by Porsche Zentrum 5 Seen.

For the collector drawn to the most specialized air-cooled Turbos, few late 930s offer a more compelling blend of factory upgraded performance, Sonderwunsch appointments, and matching-numbers originality than this WLS Coupe. Accompanied by its Porsche Classic Technical Certificate, this rare 930 is poised to be the center of discussion at any Porsche gathering it graces.
